The penultimate round of the DP World India Championship saw Ryder Cup stars Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry positioned within striking distance of the lead in Delhi. With only one day left in the tournament, Fleetwood trails leader Keita Nakajima by two shots, while Lowry sits three shots off the pace. Rory McIlroy, a prominent figure in international golf, finds himself seven strokes behind after a four-under 68 on Saturday.
Nakajima delivered an impressive performance by carding seven birdies without any bogeys, finishing the round with a score of 65. This places him at a total of 17 under par for the tournament, as he seeks his second DP World Tour victory, following his earlier success at the Hero Indian Open in March 2024. His track record in India is notable, including a runner-up finish in the same event in 2025.
Fleetwood commenced Saturday’s round strong, securing two birdies in his first three holes and adding another at the eighth. However, he faced a challenge with a series of eight pars before recovering from a bogey on the 17th hole with a birdie at 18. He finished the day with a score of three-under 69, bringing his tournament total to 15 under par.
Lowry equaled Fleetwood’s three-under performance for the day. His round included five birdies and two bogeys, placing him at 14 under par. The fourth position is currently shared among Alex Fitzpatrick, Brian Harman, Daniel Hillier, and Jens Dantorp, all sitting at 13 under.
In a standout performance, Dantorp matched Nakajima with a remarkable seven-under 65, rebounding from an opening bogey to finish with eight birdies. His explosive play included a series of seven birdies across just nine holes, showcasing his potential to challenge for the lead.
Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland also made strides towards the top with a bogey-free six-under 66, positioning himself alongside England’s Brandon Robinson-Thompson at 12 under par, tied for eighth place.
