The Yarra Mountain Basketball Association (YMBA) is set to launch its upcoming basketball season for juniors and seniors, with registration now open. The junior league, aimed at players born between 2010 and 2018, will feature a ten-week season followed by finals. The season is scheduled to begin the week of March 2, 2024, and includes a two-week break to accommodate the Victorian school holidays and Easter.
The registration fee for junior players is $100.00, which includes the YMBA fee, along with an additional $29 for the Basketball Victoria Insurance Fee, valid for twelve months. Parents are encouraged to register their children by February 12 to secure a spot, as late entries cannot be guaranteed. The league aims to create balanced competition by pooling players and forming teams accordingly. Additionally, parents interested in coaching are invited to indicate their interest on the registration form.
For senior players, the season consists of an eight-week round-robin format, commencing on February 4 and February 5. Women will compete on Wednesday nights for the first four weeks, potentially moving to Tuesday and Wednesday nights once the junior season begins, depending on team numbers. Men will play on Thursday nights. The registration fee for seniors is $80.00 with a similar structure of fees as the juniors, including the YMBA fee and a $43 Basketball Victoria Insurance Fee, also valid for twelve months. Players born in 2008 or later are eligible to participate, and registration should be completed by January 29.
For those with different abilities, an eight-week training program will be held on Thursday nights at Sacred Heart MPB from 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM, starting on February 19. Participants are required to register online, with a cost of $20.00 for the program. For further inquiries, individuals can reach out to [email protected].
The YMBA encourages community participation and looks forward to an exciting season of basketball, fostering skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship among all players.
