Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is not expected to play in the upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a foot injury sustained during last weekend’s match against the Tennessee Titans. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler, veteran backup Jacoby Brissett will take over as the starter at Lucas Oil Stadium, where he previously played from 2017 to 2020.

Murray’s injury limited his participation in practice, with his only session occurring on Friday. In the wake of his absence, Brissett, who has started 53 games over a ten-season career, is poised to lead the team. His record stands at 19 wins and 34 losses, along with 53 career touchdowns. Brissett’s last start was in Week 5 of the previous season for the New England Patriots.

Throughout the week, Cardinals players expressed confidence in Brissett’s abilities. Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. noted, “I have full trust in Jacoby. I think the biggest thing, he’s been such a good leader and mentor for me since he got here.” Harrison and Brissett have spent additional time together following practices to help Brissett adjust to his starting role.

Tight end Trey McBride echoed this sentiment, stating, “I think Jacoby’s, obviously, he’s played a long time in this league. He’s played for a lot of different teams.” McBride emphasized Brissett’s experience and ability to command the huddle, saying he believes Brissett will make the right plays.

As the Cardinals prepare for their matchup against the Colts, the team remains optimistic about Brissett’s leadership. With Murray sidelined, his performance will be critical for Arizona as they seek to secure a victory on the road.
