Tottenham Hotspur is on the verge of finalizing a significant signing as the Premier League transfer deadline approaches. The club, under the management of Thomas Frank, has made a strong start to the season, boasting a perfect record. As they look to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead, Tottenham aims to bring in reinforcements to enhance their competitiveness across multiple competitions.
Targeting New Talent
With the transfer window closing soon, Tottenham’s management has been proactive in identifying key targets. The team’s recent attempts to secure playmaker Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace were unsuccessful, as the Hale End academy graduate opted to remain with Arsenal. Additionally, negotiations for Morgan Gibbs-White did not come to fruition, leaving the club in search of a creative midfielder following the long-term injury to James Maddison, who is sidelined due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during preseason.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham is now “on the brink of a blockbuster double attacking signing.” The club has set its sights on Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco, who is regarded as a versatile asset capable of operating in various positions behind the striker. Alongside Akliouche, Tottenham is also interested in Savinho from Manchester City.
Negotiations and Challenges
Reports indicate that Monaco is willing to consider bids around £47.5 million for Akliouche. However, FourFourTwo highlights that negotiations between clubs may complicate the transfer process, with Tottenham hesitant to pay a premium for a player who is relatively untested outside of France. The Ligue 1 club is expected to seek maximum value for their talented player, complicating Tottenham’s pursuit.
In addition to their search for attacking options, Tottenham is also in the market for a new winger and a centre-back. Challenges persist in their efforts to land both positions. Current reports suggest that Tottenham and Manchester City remain approximately £10 million apart in their valuation of Savinho. Meanwhile, potential defensive targets continue to slip away, with Piero Hincapie reportedly heading to Arsenal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
As the clock ticks down on the transfer window, Tottenham fans will be keenly watching for any developments. The club is scheduled to return to Premier League action this weekend, facing Bournemouth at home, and will aim to maintain momentum in their promising start to the season.
