The beta version of Apple Music 5.0 for Android has been released, introducing several new features and design updates ahead of the highly anticipated launch of iOS 26 this fall. This update represents a significant step in enhancing user experience on Android devices, although it notably lacks the Liquid Glass redesign that will be available to iOS users.
While the Android app retains its previous layout featuring the same bottom navigation bar and docked Now Playing controls, several design tweaks have been implemented. For instance, pill-shaped buttons have replaced the traditional rounded rectangles throughout the app. This change is evident in key areas, including the shuffle, repeat, and autoplay buttons located at the top of the user’s queue, as well as the Play and Shuffle buttons found in album views.
Key Enhancements in the Beta Version
Among the most significant updates is a new feature allowing users to “Pin Music to Your Library.” This functionality elevates the most frequently played songs, albums, playlists, or artists to the top of the Library for quick access. Users can find the option to pin these items in various overflow menus throughout the app. Once pinned, these selections will sync across Apple devices, although it may require an additional action to get all items to display correctly.
Furthermore, users can long-press from the Library tab to unpin items, as well as customize the Tap Action for each pinned item, choosing from options such as “Go to Album,” “Play,” or “Shuffle.” The feature also includes the ability to automatically download pinned items, a setting that can be disabled in the app’s configuration.
Another notable addition in this beta version is the redesigned splash screen that highlights two new features: Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation, which aim to help users understand and sing along to lyrics in different languages, and the Replay in the App feature, which provides users with easy access to their month-by-month and year-end music statistics.
Accessing the Beta Version
To participate in the Apple Music 5.0 beta testing, users can join through the dedicated page provided by Apple. While the initial phase of this beta release is focused on Android users, the ongoing updates and enhancements suggest that Apple is committed to improving cross-platform functionality and user experience.
As Apple continues to expand its offerings, the company’s ongoing efforts to refine Apple Music for Android users reflect its strategy to create a cohesive experience across all devices. The introduction of these features positions Apple Music as a competitive player in the music streaming market, catering to the diverse needs of its global user base.
