The 77th Emmy Awards are poised to honor excellence in television this Sunday, but early results indicate that Apple TV+ is set for substantial recognition. The streaming service has already secured a total of 15 wins in preliminary announcements, largely attributed to its standout offerings, The Studio and the sci-fi drama Severance.

Strong Showings in Comedy and Drama

Among the wins, The Studio has emerged as a frontrunner, having garnered a record-breaking 23 nominations earlier this year for Outstanding Comedy Series. This impressive tally set the stage for its early victories in categories such as Production Design, Casting, Cinematography, Contemporary Costumes, Picture Editing, Music Supervision, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing. Notably, Bryan Cranston received the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as studio chief Griffin Mill.

On the drama side, Severance also made a significant impact, winning awards for Production Design, Cinematography, Title Design, Music Composition, and Sound Mixing. Additionally, Merritt Wever was recognized with the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Dylan’s wife, Gretchen.

The landscape for Outstanding Drama Series remains competitive, with HBO Max’s The Pitt presenting a formidable challenge to Severance. The final results will be revealed during the ceremony, but early indicators suggest that The Studio is on track to secure the top honor in comedy.

Looking Ahead to the Main Event

As the Emmy Awards ceremony approaches, Apple TV+ is optimistic about its remaining contenders. Other nominated series include Shrinking, Slow Horses, Presumed Innocent, Disclaimer, Bad Sisters, and Dope Thief. The anticipation is high, particularly for The Studio, which, if successful, would mark Apple’s third win for Outstanding Comedy Series, following the triumph of Ted Lasso in its first two seasons.

Both Severance and The Studio have already been renewed for additional seasons, indicating their strong reception among audiences and critics alike. As the awards night approaches, all eyes will be on Apple TV+ to see how many of its nominations translate into accolades.
