On September 9, 2025, DXC Technology announced the successful implementation of a unified financial system for Meridian Energy, New Zealand’s largest generator and retailer of renewable energy. This transformation involves the adoption of the Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and EPM systems, designed to enhance efficiency across various operational areas including finance, procurement, and planning.
The collaboration aims to replace Meridian Energy’s outdated financial systems, which had become cumbersome due to extensive modifications. By modernising these systems, DXC seeks to streamline business processes and provide a more user-friendly experience. The initiative is expected to support the needs of 400,000 business and residential customers.
Enhancing Operational Efficiency
With this new integrated solution, project visibility will improve for over 200 managers, enabling better oversight and control of various initiatives. Additionally, procurement processes will be standardised, with the implementation of a new policy that enforces “no purchase order, no payment.” This move is intended to ensure compliance and optimize spending.
Another significant advancement is the acceleration of financial reporting. Executive and board-level financial reports will now be generated within five days, a considerable improvement from previous timelines. This efficiency is crucial as Meridian Energy continues to evolve in a competitive market.
Commitment to Sustainable Growth
Mike Roan, Chief Executive of Meridian Energy, highlighted the importance of this technological investment, stating, “We’re investing in technology to help us stay ahead of the growing demand for electricity, and help our customers reduce their emissions.” He emphasised that the new system will not only enhance operational capabilities but also align with New Zealand’s goals of fostering a green economy powered by renewable energy sources.
Seelan Nayagam, President of DXC Technology for the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting Meridian Energy’s vision. He stated, “By transforming Meridian Energy’s legacy systems, our aim is to support their vision to help New Zealand achieve a net-zero carbon future.” This partnership is positioned as a critical step towards creating future opportunities as Meridian Energy continues its growth trajectory.
As the world’s largest energy companies increasingly rely on DXC Technology to manage and modernise their systems, the focus remains on integrating digital solutions that enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and create new revenue opportunities. The successful implementation of this unified platform is expected to set a new standard in the energy sector, demonstrating how technology can drive significant operational improvements.
