On December 29, 2025, GAC’s groundbreaking battery technologies were celebrated at the National Museum of China during the exhibition titled “Forging the Path to National Strength: China’s Manufacturing Achievements Under the 14th Five-Year Plan.” This event, co-organized by the National Museum of China and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, showcased over 300 significant national achievements, highlighting GAC’s commitment to innovation in the energy sector.
The Magazine Battery and the Solid-State Battery, developed by GAC’s “National Outstanding Engineer Team,” were among the key highlights. Notably, the Magazine Battery is the first battery system to successfully pass the stringent nail penetration no-flame and non-ignition safety tests. This achievement is attributed to the battery’s use of ultra-high intrinsic safety cells and a comprehensive safety monitoring system that operates in tandem with cloud technology.
One of the standout features of the Magazine Battery is its three-layer safety protection system, which includes core, active, and passive components. This robust safety framework exceeds the electric vehicle traction battery safety requirements outlined in the upcoming GB38031-2025, which will be enforced starting July 1, 2026. To date, the Magazine Battery has been deployed in 1.3 million vehicles, achieving zero spontaneous combustion incidents and facilitating over 50 billion kilometers of safe travel, thereby offering users enhanced safety assurance for their journeys.
In addition to the Magazine Battery, GAC has made significant strides with its large-capacity Solid-State Battery, which boasts an energy density exceeding 400 Wh/kg. This battery has successfully passed rigorous safety tests, including thermal chamber tests at 200°C and nail penetration tests, addressing common concerns regarding range anxiety and safety among users. Innovations in materials and manufacturing processes have positioned GAC’s solid-state battery as a leader in safety, energy density, and cycle life, presenting a formidable power solution for the evolving landscape of new energy vehicles (NEVs).
To support its ambitions, GAC has established a pilot production line capable of mass-producing vehicle-grade solid-state batteries exceeding 60 Ah. This development marks a critical milestone towards the company’s goal of achieving full vehicle integration by 2026.
GAC’s ongoing commitment to innovation extends beyond battery technology. Over the years, the company has enhanced its competitive edge through advancements in intelligent connectivity, NEV powertrain technologies, and other forward-looking initiatives. As GAC continues to deepen its focus on the intelligent connected NEV sector, it aims to leverage its technological achievements to drive industry progress and shape the future of transportation.
This recognition at the exhibition underscores GAC’s pivotal role in advancing China’s manufacturing capabilities and its dedication to innovation in the automotive industry.
