Kia has unveiled sporty GT variants of its EV3, EV4, and EV5 electric vehicles at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, alongside the introduction of the new EV2 electric SUV. These new models enhance the existing line-up, but unlike the high-performance EV6 GT and EV9 GT, the upgrades in the EV3 GT and EV4 GT are more modest. The EV5 GT, however, delivers performance comparable to the all-wheel drive model currently available in Australia.

The primary focus for Kia with these GT models appears to be enhancing the driving experience. Alex Papapetropolous, Director of Product at Kia Europe, stated in an interview with Autocar: “GT models are about more than just extra power. We have hardware to deliver everyday emotion – and we want to deliver that in a sophisticated way.”

Key Features of the New GT Models

All three GT models feature advanced technologies designed to elevate the driving experience. They include virtual gear shifts that simulate the tactile sensations of accelerating and decelerating like a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle. Additionally, active sound design enhances the driving experience by adjusting the faux drivetrain sounds based on speed and load.

These models come equipped with retuned electronically controlled suspension settings and a specific GT driving mode that promotes a “more focused and immersive driving character.” Other upgrades include larger alloy wheels, a three-spoke steering wheel, and semi-bucket seats for added comfort and support. Interior aesthetics are enhanced with splashes of lime green on various components, including the steering wheel, seats, stitching, ambient lighting, and brake calipers.

The EV3 GT is powered by a robust 215kW dual-motor all-wheel drive system, consisting of a 145kW motor at the front and a 70kW motor at the rear. It utilizes a standard 81.4kWh battery from the EV3 Long Range, allowing for impressive acceleration with a 0-100 km/h time of just 5.7 seconds. The EV3 GT rides on 245/40 Pirelli P-Zero tyres mounted on 20-inch alloy wheels. In contrast, the standard EV3 variant available in Australia features a 150kW front-wheel drivetrain and achieves the same 0-100 km/h benchmark in 7.5 seconds.

The EV4 GT, which comes as a sedan and hatch, shares the same powertrain as the EV3 GT. It also features the 81.4kWh battery pack and rides on the same tyres and wheels. Although the EV4 is longer than the EV3, it is slightly quicker, with a 0-100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds. Currently, the EV4 is available in Europe, with plans for a launch in Australia set for 2026. Pricing details and additional specifications are still pending.

The larger EV5 GT boasts a more powerful 225kW all-wheel drive setup, featuring a 155kW motor in the front and a 70kW motor at the back. Kia claims it can achieve a 0-100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds, although it has 5kW less power than the existing EV5 AWD model, which achieves similar times based on trim level. The EV5 GT rides on 255/45 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyres, also on 20-inch alloy wheels.

Production for the EV3 GT, EV4 GT, and EV5 GT is slated to commence in the second quarter of this year. Kia Australia has confirmed the EV3 GT will be available in the Australian market, further enriching the brand’s electric vehicle offerings.
