Microsoft has introduced the Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) for Windows 11, allowing users to enjoy a more streamlined gaming interface on their PCs. Currently available for testing among Windows Insiders, this feature enhances the gaming capabilities across laptops, desktops, and tablet devices.

The FSE is designed to facilitate controller-first gaming, presenting a clean, distraction-free interface. According to Microsoft, this new experience allows users to easily navigate their gaming libraries using an Xbox controller rather than relying on a mouse or keyboard. The interface also optimizes system resources, freeing up RAM to enhance gaming performance.

Accessing the Full Screen Experience

To participate in testing the FSE, users must be on the Windows Insider Preview Build within the Dev or Beta channels or part of the Xbox Insider Program. The feature can be accessed through Task View, Game Bar settings, or by using the Win+F11 keyboard shortcut.

Once activated, users will see the Xbox home screen, enabling them to access their games, including titles from Xbox, Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere, and other popular storefronts. A long press on the Xbox button allows users to switch between applications and games, while tapping the Windows key returns them to standard operations.

Microsoft has indicated that the rollout of the FSE will be phased, meaning not all users will see it immediately. This testing phase is crucial as it is believed that the next-generation Xbox PC will be built around the FSE, effectively turning it into a Windows 11 PC with an integrated Xbox gaming library.

As Microsoft continues to refine this experience, the company aims to gather as much feedback as possible from users. Engaging with the gaming community through programs like the Xbox Insider Program will help ensure that the FSE meets the expectations of gamers worldwide.
