At the All Energy Australia 2025 conference, held in Melbourne, Sunwoda unveiled its latest innovations in energy storage and battery recycling solutions. The company, recognized as a leader in lithium-ion battery technology, showcased its advanced battery cell technologies and full-spectrum energy storage systems. During the event, Spike Zhang, Sunwoda’s Regional Solution Director, presented a technical briefing titled “Sunwoda Liquid Cooling ESS 3.0 Concept Briefing,” detailing the firm’s end-to-end energy storage architecture tailored to Australia’s unique energy landscape.

Innovative Battery Technologies for Diverse Applications

In his presentation, Zhang emphasized the advancements in Sunwoda’s energy storage cells, particularly focusing on their winding and stacking technologies. The new 684Ah cell, utilizing stacking technology, is designed to enhance energy density and facilitate seamless integration into various systems. This cell is particularly suited for applications that require high capacity or are constrained by space. Conversely, the 588Ah cell, which employs winding technology, is engineered for cycling stability and energy efficiency, making it ideal for the frequent charge-discharge cycles characteristic of Australian energy storage projects.

Additionally, Zhang provided insights into the Liquid Cooling ESS 3.0 layout, which supports localized energy storage solutions. Sunwoda’s systems offer flexible capacities, compatibility with different applications, and resilience to Australia’s extreme climate conditions, from its arid zones to humid coastal regions. Notably, the company highlighted the 3MWh Liquid Cooling ESS, equipped with 588Ah cells. This system features multiple fire protection measures, precise temperature and humidity management, and high integration capabilities, making it adaptable for transport.

Sunwoda has already implemented numerous projects across New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, demonstrating its commitment to providing AS/NZS 3000-compliant solutions with local certification and on-site engineering support.

Commitment to Sustainability and Circular Economy

In addition to its innovative products, Sunwoda reinforced its commitment to sustainable energy practices and strict Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance. The company introduced a comprehensive battery recycling and reuse strategy that addresses the entire lifecycle of lithium batteries. Sunwoda operates specialized recycling facilities focused on remanufacturing lithium batteries and ensuring thorough recycling and utilization of used batteries. By 2025, the company aims to achieve an annual processing capacity of 120,000 tons of used lithium batteries and 1 GWh of remanufacturing capacity.

Furthermore, Sunwoda plans to establish new recycling centers in Europe and Thailand, with the goal of providing full-lifecycle circular management services for lithium batteries to customers both in Australia and around the globe.

Founded in 1997, Sunwoda Electronic Co., Ltd. went public on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2011 and successfully listed Global Depository Receipts (GDR) on the Swiss Stock Exchange in 2022. Over nearly three decades, the company has solidified its leadership in lithium-ion battery technology, achieving significant business success and ranking among the global top ten in power battery installations and energy storage cell shipments, as well as earning a designation as a Bloomberg Tier 1 Energy Storage Manufacturer.
