3-5-million-land-purchase-sparks-new-school-in-ballarat

URGENT UPDATE: A significant step towards establishing a new independent school in Ballarat has just been announced, with AngliSchools acquiring a prime 11 hectares of farmland on Cuthberts Road for $3.5 million. This acquisition, finalized on April 30, 2024, positions the school to potentially open its doors by the end of the decade.

The land, located at 531 Cuthberts Road, currently features a four-bedroom home but is set to transform into an educational hub serving students from prep to Year 12. Officials from AngliSchools are actively conducting due diligence to determine the school’s structure and capacity, confirming that the school will likely develop incrementally, starting with select year levels.

AngliSchools chief executive Reverend Peter Laurence stated, “We’re excited to explore opportunities in Ballarat, a region well-known as a key education hub.” Laurence emphasized a collaborative approach, engaging with local community leaders, families, and other educational institutions to ensure the new school aligns with the values of faith, inclusion, respect, and excellence.

This new establishment marks a critical addition to Ballarat’s educational landscape, which currently includes only one other Anglican school, Ballarat Grammar. Founded in 1911 and merging with Queen’s College in 1973, Ballarat Grammar has a long-standing tradition in education. The community is eagerly awaiting further details on this new venture, with a decision expected before the end of 2026.

The site is strategically located opposite the expanding Lucas housing development and near another sizable landholding owned by Loreto College, presenting a promising opportunity for future growth. As Ballarat continues to develop as a vibrant educational center, the establishment of this new school is set to play a vital role in shaping the future of education in the area.

Stay tuned for updates as AngliSchools progresses with their plans, and the community’s excitement builds for what this new institution will bring to Ballarat’s educational landscape.
