UPDATE: Armed thugs launched a brutal attack during a home invasion in Gladstone Park early this morning, shocking residents and capturing the incident on video. At approximately 1:25 AM on July 24, Kemal Akbulut, a 60-year-old resident, confronted a group of four men who had broken into his home on Trentham Dr.
The assailants, armed with knives and guns, violently assaulted Mr. Akbulut, inflicting serious injuries, including a suspected gunshot wound, as they demanded money. Disturbing footage from the incident shows one thug wielding a hammer to strike Mr. Akbulut, who can be heard screaming in terror. The attackers also threatened Mr. Akbulut’s cousin, Birsel Akbulut, 57, with a firearm.
In the shocking video, one of the assailants aims a gun at Mr. Akbulut, demanding, “Where’s the money?” to which he responds, “I’ll give you whatever you want.” Another attacker repeatedly stabs the victim while another records the assault on a mobile phone. According to police, a shot was allegedly fired inside the home during the chaos.
A police spokesman confirmed that Mr. Akbulut sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, his cousin was not physically harmed during the attack. The assailants fled the scene in a white Haval SUV and remain at large as the investigation continues.
