UPDATE: In an exciting display of talent and community spirit, the Australian Croatian father-son duo, Josip and Noa Skoko, led their team to victory in a humanitarian futsal tournament in Kaštel Sućurac near Split last weekend. Competing in the “Turnir Četiri kafića” (Tournament of Four Cafés), the team from Caffe Bar “B-Cool Brewery & Pub” clinched the championship with a thrilling 5-3 win over Caffe Bar “Mama”.
The tournament, held at the Sokolana Sports Hall, attracted teams from popular cafes and was characterized by its charitable purpose. Proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Kaštela-based association Naša dica (Our Children), which supports local children in need. Participants and spectators alike were moved by the event’s humanitarian focus, emphasizing community engagement and support.
After an impressive performance, the Skokos’ team advanced to the final after defeating Caffe Bar “Balun” in their opening match with a score of 6-4. The final showcased the skills of the players, including current Hajduk Split first-team member Anthony Kalik, who expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the charity event. “It’s great to take part in a charity tournament. It’s an opportunity to do a good deed and to socialise with teammates you don’t see often,” Kalik shared with Dalmacija Danas.
The B-Cool Brewery & Pub team featured a strong lineup, including players Žarko Luketin, Branimir Cipetić, Mateo Jurić Petrašilo, Ivan Strinić, Ivan Mamut, and others, all under the management of legendary former Hajduk player Zoran Vulić. The tournament marked a significant moment for the local community, reviving a cherished tradition that had been on hold for two decades.
The excitement of the event was palpable, with attendees expressing their joy and appreciation for both the competitive spirit and the charitable cause. Vedrana Šarić, vice-president of Naša dica, thanked the participants, stating, “You made our children stars today, and thank you for this gesture. Every form of help is valuable to our association.”
After the tournament, the trophy was awarded to the winners by Kaštel Mayor Denis Ivanović, who voiced his pride in hosting the event. “I am proud that the tournament is held in Kaštela. I hope it will remain here for many years to come,” he remarked.
