UPDATE: In an electrifying showdown on November 5, 2023, at the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre, the Bombers pushed the MP Boys to their limits, showcasing the fierce competition as the finals approach. Despite their position at the bottom of the standings, the Bombers held their ground, ultimately falling to the top-ranked MP Boys with a final score of 46 to 33.

The game kicked off with both teams evenly matched at 10-all in the first quarter, where the Bombers’ star player, Chris Hunter, scored four baskets to lead his team. However, the MP Boys, powered by C.J. Oakley, Rhys Hajinoor, and Damon Enosa, pulled ahead by the end of the first half, leading by four points.

As the third quarter unfolded, the Bombers mounted a strong counterattack, closing the gap to just one point at 32-31 heading into the final quarter. But the MP Boys secured their victory in the fourth quarter, with Oakley scoring 21 points overall, while Hunter led the Bombers with 14 points.

Meanwhile, in another men’s A-grade match, the Tigers delivered a commanding performance against the Gantheaume Pointers, winning 57 to 39. Jarman Cox emerged as the standout player, scoring 24 points, while the Pointers’ Tom Schorer managed to secure 10 points.

In the men’s social competition, the Saints achieved a remarkable victory over the Cobras, doubling their score at 53 to 23, with Done Manjengwa leading the charge with 20 points. Bayside triumphed over the Misfits 53 to 36, driven by Simone Cox’s impressive 25 points. The Hornets also claimed victory against Broome Best Cleaning Services, ending the match at 48 to 36, with Albuquerque Hunter scoring 14 points. In a closely contested match, the Spoonbills and Peninsula Bombers ended in a tie, both scoring 48 points, with Cameron Gatenby topping the scoring for the Spoonbills with 26 points.

In the women’s competition, the Raiders narrowly defeated the Lady Tigers by just two points, clinching the match at 30 to 28. Katelyn Parriman of the Tigers was the standout scorer, contributing 17 points.

As the semester two finals draw closer, anticipation builds for the upcoming matches, with teams battling hard for supremacy in the Broome basketball league.
