BREAKING: The Dederang-Mt Beauty Bombers have made a significant off-season move by signing premiership ruckman Logan Hamilton. This announcement marks a new chapter for the Bombers under newly appointed coach Josh Kable, who expressed excitement about landing such a formidable player.
Hamilton joins the Bombers after a standout performance in the Holbrook grand final victory over Osborne in 2022. Previously, he transitioned from Lavington to Holbrook, showcasing his talent as a key player. Kable, who played alongside Hamilton at Holbrook in 2024, emphasized the ruckman’s physical presence and versatility, stating, “We are very excited to land Logan. He is a big unit and will provide a strong ruck option for us.”
Despite initially signing with North Albury for the current season, Hamilton opted to sit out after not participating in any games. Kable noted, “Logan is motivated to have a big impact in the TDFL after having this season off,” highlighting Hamilton’s eagerness to return to the field. “He is really hungry to play again,” Kable continued, revealing that their discussions led to Hamilton’s quick signing after a brief meeting.
Hamilton is set to bring not only his rucking abilities but also his skills in attack, having played as a key forward during his time at Holbrook. Kable confirmed, “Logan told me he feels his best position is in the ruck though, so he is keen to roll through there.” The Bombers anticipate Hamilton’s return to form as he trains with the team, although he will be spending a couple of weeks in New Zealand before Christmas.
In addition to Hamilton, the Bombers have secured Sam Bakes, a promising 20-year-old player who also had the season off. Kable described Bakes as “super fit” and noted that he quickly caught the coaching staff’s attention during training. “Getting Sam was a bit of a blessing,” Kable remarked, emphasizing the unexpected nature of this addition to the squad.
As the TDFL off-season remains relatively quiet, the signings of Kable and Hamilton are seen as pivotal moves. Kable, who finished runner-up in the Barton medal in 2021, aims to elevate the team with these strategic acquisitions. Meanwhile, Tom Johnson has also made headlines by joining Barnawartha, strengthening the competition landscape.
With the Bombers gearing up for the upcoming season, the incorporation of both Hamilton and Bakes is expected to enhance their performance significantly. As fans eagerly await the new season, the Bombers are poised to make a strong statement in the TDFL under Kable’s leadership.
Stay tuned for more updates as the off-season progresses and the Bombers prepare for what promises to be an exciting year ahead.
