UPDATE: The Victorian Seniors Festival is set to make a vibrant return to Brimbank next month, bringing a wealth of activities and performances specifically designed for seniors. This year marks the festival’s 43rd celebration, with the theme “Connect, Create, Celebrate” aimed at strengthening community ties and recognizing seniors’ invaluable contributions.
Starting on October 1, 2023, Brimbank residents can participate in a variety of engaging events that cater to all interests—from sports and leisure to arts and entertainment. Festival highlights include the exciting Be Active Brimbank: a come-and-try sports day, along with a Golf Day on October 2.
For theatre enthusiasts, don’t miss the performance of “Playing Second Fiddle, Major Song, Minor Character” by Victoria Mantynen on October 4. Additionally, the beloved event Bocce, Blokes and Burgers will return on October 30, promising a delightful evening for all.
In an effort to ensure that every senior is informed and can participate, the Brimbank Council has expanded its communication strategies. Important information about festival events will be included in the rates notices sent to households, making it easier for seniors to access event details.
To facilitate participation, the council has also organized booking assistance sessions at the Sunshine and Sydenham Libraries on September 15, 2023, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. These sessions aim to support seniors with the booking process. If you cannot attend, assistance is available through the council’s customer service.
This festival is more than just events; it’s a chance for seniors to connect with their community and celebrate their roles within it. With a lineup that promises fun and engagement, the Brimbank Seniors Festival is a must-attend event for everyone.
