BREAKING: A transformative vision for Christmas decorations in Charlton has just been launched by a passionate volunteer group named Community Spark. This initiative aims to revitalize the festive spirit in the town and encourage local participation in holiday cheer.
Community Spark, a team of around 18 volunteers—many of whom are new residents—has successfully ignited the main street with fresh, engaging decorations. Leading the effort are creative minds Jodie Quinn, Bronwyn Fisher, and Tanya Windsor, who have galvanized support from fellow artists and residents to create a welcoming holiday atmosphere.
“Our community needed a lift,” said Quinn. “We wanted to inspire everyone to get involved in decorating their homes and businesses.” The result? An array of upcycled decorations that reflect the town’s character, including a unique tree and Santa figure crafted by students at Charlton College.
NO SNOW, JUST SUNSHINE! Emphasizing an authentic Australian Christmas, the decorations feature local flair. Highlights include a vibrant painting of a classic Aussie ute adorned with a Christmas tree, and a stunning display of six white boomers pulling a Holden brimming with gifts, all illuminated by solar-powered lights.
A fun treasure hunt has also been introduced, where community members can explore 12 picture boards showcasing Australian icons, created by local artist Brian Townsend. Residents are encouraged to locate each board and submit their findings for a chance to win movie pass prizes—adding an interactive twist to the festive season.
The community spirit continues with contributions from local schools. Students from St. Joseph’s School have painted customized stars embellishing the entrance to the Charlton Community Bank, while Charlton College has crafted a stand-alone Christmas tree near the swimming pool, decorated with vibrant baubles and accompanied by a friendly Santa.
Adding to the charm, the historic James Paterson bridge is wrapped in twinkling red tinsel, creating a dazzling entry point to the town. Quinn, Fisher, and Windsor are hopeful this year’s initiative will inspire even greater community involvement in future holiday displays.
Feedback is crucial! Community Spark has circulated flyers outlining their goals and is actively seeking input from residents on this year’s decorations. Feedback forms are available at several local venues, including the Charlton Post Office and the Charlton Newsagent.
The newly enhanced decorations will be displayed until January 4, 2026, inviting everyone to experience the festive magic. Residents and visitors are encouraged to capture the moment with selfies and share their own festive joy on social media, showcasing Charlton’s refreshed and vibrant holiday spirit.
