condobolin-preschool-launches-urgent-nf2-fundraiser-today

UPDATE: Condobolin Preschool and Childcare Centre is actively raising urgent awareness for Neurofibromatosis (NF2) with a cake stall fundraiser today, May 17, 2022, coinciding with World Neurofibromatosis Day. This event highlights the pressing need for support as families face the challenges of this debilitating genetic disorder.

Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) leads to the growth of tumours on nerves, including those affecting the brain and spine. With no known cure, individuals like Samuel (Sammy) Ritchie, a young attendee diagnosed with NF2 earlier this year, experience a lifetime of uncertainty and health risks such as blindness and learning difficulties.

Today, educators and children at the centre are dressed in green and blue to stand in solidarity with Sammy and to raise awareness of NF2. The community is urged to participate and contribute to the cause, supporting the Children’s Tumour Foundation Australia (CTF), the only dedicated organization for those impacted by Neurofibromatosis in Australia.

The CTF’s mission goes beyond just seeking a cure; it focuses on providing hope and resources for families navigating the complexities of NF. They advocate for change, advance research, and empower communities with the knowledge and support needed at every stage of their journey.

As the cake stall unfolds, the atmosphere is filled with urgency and compassion. Local residents are encouraged to join the efforts to raise funds that will directly impact vital research and practical support for those battling this condition.

The Condobolin Preschool event serves as a critical reminder of the challenges faced by individuals with NF2, urging the community to act now. Every contribution counts, and community involvement is essential to bring about meaningful change.

Stay tuned for more updates on this important cause and how you can help support the fight against Neurofibromatosis.
