UPDATE: The Craggy Pear Emporium in Boyanup has officially expanded, responding to overwhelming demand for its unique, handcrafted homewares. The grand opening of the new location took place on November 31, drawing several hundred enthusiastic customers eager to explore the expanded offerings.

Owner Natalie Jackson transformed a derelict building, formerly a hardware store, into a vibrant community hub for creative expression. “We couldn’t fit in the church anymore,” Jackson explained, referring to the previous location. “It was simply too much down there; we didn’t have the room.”

The Craggy Pear, established in 2020, has become a cornerstone for those seeking intentionally crafted home decor. Jackson’s passion for upcycling furniture and teaching heritage techniques like weaving and spinning has resonated with a diverse clientele, from young adults to retirees. “We’ve got men that are coming in and learning, which has been fabulous,” she noted, highlighting the intergenerational appeal of her workshops.

The decision to move came after a rapid increase in customer interest, necessitating a larger space for classes and merchandise. Jackson, with the support of her team, including Sonia Italiano, embarked on a six-month renovation journey to create a welcoming environment. “It’s been a massive journey,” Jackson stated, reflecting on the extensive renovations required to transform the new space.

The new emporium allows for a more extensive inventory, specifically targeting homewares that embody the spirit of ‘intentional living.’ The store prides itself on avoiding mass-produced items, focusing instead on unique, handcrafted pieces that tell a story. “All the merchandise has been curated to foster a sense of intentional living,” Jackson explained.

The community spirit is palpable at the Craggy Pear. Just last week, workshop participants pitched in to clean the new premises, showcasing the strong communal bonds formed through shared creativity. “When we moved in, we all had our mops and marched down the road, and cleaned the whole area; it was just beautiful to watch,” Jackson recalled.

The Craggy Pear Emporium’s grand opening exceeded expectations, with a lively atmosphere and positive feedback from attendees. “Everyone was just so positive and gorgeous,” said Jackson.

As business continues to flourish, Jackson plans to hire additional staff to accommodate the growing demand for classes and products. The Craggy Pear is not just a store; it is a testament to the power of community and craftsmanship in an age of convenience.

With the new location now operational, Craggy Pear Emporium is set to enhance its role as a creative sanctuary in Boyanup, inviting even more people to embrace the joy of handmade living.
