Legendary Australian cricketer David Boon has been touring the Pilbara over the past month with his most recent stop taking him to Onslow and Pannawonica.

UPDATE: Australian cricket legend David Boon is currently making waves in the Pilbara region with a series of dynamic cricket clinics, having just concluded his latest sessions in Port Hedland on October 23. This month-long tour is bringing his expertise directly to local cricketers, sparking excitement in the community.

Boon kicked off his tour in Onslow on October 20, where he delivered a free clinic in collaboration with the Onslow Cricket Club. Young athletes gathered at the Onslow Multipurpose Centre to learn from Boon’s extensive experience. Following this, he visited Pannawonica on October 21, hosting another clinic at the Pannawonica Sporting Club, partnering with Pannawonica Junior Sports to inspire the next generation of cricketers.

The tour culminated with a special Luncheon with Legends event on October 23 at Wanangkura Stadium, organized by the Town of Port Hedland and Port Hedland Leisure. Boon engaged in a Q&A session, sharing personal stories and insights from his cricketing journey, which included being part of Australia’s first-ever World Cup victory in 1987.

The Town of Port Hedland expressed their gratitude on social media, stating, “It was truly inspiring listening to his journey from small-town beginnings to the global arena. A big thank you to David for taking the time to connect with our community and share his passion for the game.”
