***online out until after 6pm news MUST CREDIT 7NEWS*** An elderly man has been discharged from hospital after he was hit with an axe during a fight at caravan park.

URGENT UPDATE: An 82-year-old man is recovering in the Royal Perth Hospital following a shocking axe attack at a caravan park in Caversham, Perth, around 5.30 PM yesterday. The elderly victim, identified as Albert Bullock, bravely defended himself by spraying fly spray into the assailant’s eyes during the violent encounter.

Bullock has lived in the caravan park for 20 years. He confronted a male driver who was speeding down a hill, disregarding the park’s 5 km/h speed limit. After shouting, “Mate, do you mind slowing down?”, Bullock faced a furious response from the driver, who approached him aggressively.

“I thought he was going for my head,” Bullock recounted. “I put my arm up and that copped the worst of it.” He described the assailant as “going berserk” and believes he would have died without his quick reaction.

After suffering significant blood loss, Bullock used fly spray to fend off the attacker, who subsequently fled the scene. “I lost that much blood,” he said, detailing the terrifying experience. Despite the ordeal, he maintained his humor, joking about the heavy cast on his arm. “This thing weighs a bloody tonne… I’ll end up with a fractured skull in here soon.”

Bullock praised the swift actions of an off-duty paramedic who rushed to his aid while neighbors called emergency services. “He was bloody brilliant,” Bullock stated, expressing gratitude for the first responders.

In a direct message to his attacker, Bullock pleaded, “Come on mate. Get a bloody life for Christ’s sake and leave the oldies alone.”

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the attack to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. As the investigation unfolds, this shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by the elderly in their communities.
