URGENT UPDATE: The deadline for entries to the 2025 Annual Art Awards in Emerald has been extended until Friday, July 25, 2025. This is a critical opportunity for artists to showcase their work in one of the region’s most anticipated cultural events.
The Central Highlands Regional Council invites both emerging and established artists to participate in this vibrant celebration of creativity. The Art Awards, a highlight of the council’s ‘Art Attack!’ calendar, are renowned for attracting talent from across the country, and this year promises to be no different.
Artists can submit works across several categories, including easel works, paper-based art, 3D creations, photography, and digital art. With a total of seven main categories, there are substantial prizes available: a $750 first prize and $250 second prize in each category. The categories are:
1. Easel-based works
2. Works on paper
3. Three-dimensional and fibre works
4. Photography
5. Digital art
6. Youth (ages 13-18, any medium)
7. Junior (ages 12 and under, any medium)
Young artists are especially encouraged to participate, with youth categories offering $150 for first prize and $50 for second. Two major titles will also be awarded on the night: the coveted Central Highlands Regional Council Acquisitive Award for the most outstanding overall work and the Local Artist Award, which recognizes exceptional regional talent.
The awards night promises to be a spectacular event on the Central Highlands social calendar, featuring an exhibition opening that invites guests to enjoy a stylish evening with drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Attendees will also have the chance to vote for their favorite piece in the People’s Choice Award, which will be conducted online via Have Your Say Central Highlands.
