UPDATE: A fatal crash early this morning in North Ryde has resulted in one death and left another person injured, triggering severe traffic disruptions in Sydney’s northwest. Emergency services received reports of a collision involving a truck and a car on Lane Cove Rd shortly after 1am today.
The male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while a female passenger was trapped and had to be rescued by Fire and Rescue NSW crews. Both individuals were treated on-site by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to Royal North Shore Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Motorists are urged to find alternative routes. Light vehicles should consider using Coxs Rd, Wicks Rd, or Epping Rd, while heavy vehicles are advised to divert via Blaxland Rd and Epping Rd, which can accommodate vehicles up to 26m B-double.
