UPDATE: A 39-year-old man from Geraldton is set to face court after allegedly ram-raiding a cafe in Beechboro early on Christmas morning. The incident, which unfolded around 4:40 AM, involved the suspect using a stolen vehicle to smash through the cafe’s front glass doors and wall, causing extensive damage.

According to WA Police, the man stole the vehicle during a burglary in Darch on Christmas Eve. An unmarked police vehicle patrolling the area witnessed the crime and attempted to intervene. However, the suspect fled the scene, leading officers on a chase that ended in Noranda, where he was apprehended.

The accused faces multiple charges, including criminal damage, vehicle theft, and reckless driving to escape police pursuit. He also is charged with failing to comply with a direction to stop under aggravated circumstances.

Authorities confirmed that the ram-raid not only inflicted serious damage on the Beechboro eatery but also raised significant concerns regarding public safety during the holiday season.

The man, who hails from the coastal suburb of Bluff Point, is scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday. This developing situation highlights ongoing issues related to crime and vehicle thefts in the region, stressing the importance of community vigilance.
