URGENT UPDATE: The District Council of Grant has just launched a new grant program to boost festive community celebrations! The Township Festive Celebrations Grant Program offers funding of up to $250 per township, designed to support local groups in hosting Christmas events that unite residents and spread holiday cheer.
This initiative, announced by Council’s Awards Advisory Committee chair and Deputy Mayor Brad Mann, highlights the importance of community connections during this festive season. “This is a simple but meaningful way for the council to support our communities across the district to celebrate in their own unique way,” Cr Mann stated.
The program aims to illuminate townships with festive spirit, encouraging events like barbeques, street parties, and communal decorations. Community groups planning inclusive events within the District Council of Grant area can apply for the grants, which cover expenses like food, decorations, modest entertainment, and venue hire.
Chief Executive Officer Darryl Whicker emphasized the program’s role in fostering a connected and engaged community. “Many of our townships already host wonderful festive events each year,” he said. “This program helps strengthen those traditions while also encouraging new ones to emerge.”
Applications are now open and will close at 5 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2023. Interested community groups are urged to apply online at www.dcgrant.sa.gov.au/community/communitygrants.
