UPDATE: In a heartfelt display of gratitude, Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old hero, has received over $2.5 million in donations for his bravery during the deadly Bondi attack on December 14, 2025. This act of heroism unfolded at the Hanukkah Festival, where Ahmed courageously disarmed one of the attackers, undoubtedly saving numerous lives.

Amidst the recognition of Ahmed’s heroism, the nation mourns the loss of 16 innocent lives taken in the attack, including a 10-year-old girl named Matilda and a married couple, Boris and Sofia Gurman. The Gurmans bravely confronted the attacker, paying the ultimate price while trying to protect their community. Their family has expressed profound heartbreak over the tragic loss.

Another victim, Reuven Morrison, also lost his life while attempting to intervene during the chaos, showcasing the incredible bravery exhibited by everyday Australians faced with unimaginable horror.
