BREAKING: R&B pop sensation Jessica Mauboy is set to headline the Hay Bales Festival in Moora on March 28, 2024. This exciting announcement comes from the Shire of Moora, igniting anticipation for the second annual hay bale concert at the Moora Equestrian Park.
Festival organizers, Amy Watts and Natalie Maloy, confirmed that they aimed to attract a high-profile act. “We thought, ‘how cool would that be if we could get Jessica Mauboy?'” said Watts. Just 30 minutes after reaching out to Mauboy’s team with a video of last year’s concert, the deal was finalized, bringing a wave of excitement to the community.
This year, the festival is not only about the headline act. Prior to Mauboy’s anticipated 90-minute performance, 31 musicians aged eight to eighty will perform for 70 minutes, showcasing local talent. The lineup includes four choir groups: the Badgingarra Women’s Choir, Moora Primary School Choir, Miling Primary School Choir, and St Joseph’s Primary School Choir, all performing alongside the renowned Australian Baroque orchestra.
Rehearsals are currently in full swing, with participants receiving expert guidance through fortnightly workshops. Maloy expressed her pride in the community’s enthusiasm, stating, “Watching local musicians prepare to share a stage with Jessica Mauboy is inspiring.”
The festival aims to celebrate not just music but also cultural unity. “Bringing Jessica Mauboy is incredible, but what makes this event truly special is the unity of our local musicians, from choirs to family bands,” remarked Ken Seymour, Shire of Moora president. He added that the festival is poised to be Moora’s biggest celebration of music yet.
With its engaging lineup and cultural significance, the Hay Bales Festival is gaining traction as a must-attend event in the region. Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with local talent and the star power of Jessica Mauboy, making it an unforgettable experience for all.
Stay tuned for more updates as the festival approaches, and be part of a celebration that promises to uplift and inspire the community.
