UPDATE: In a thrilling showdown at Allansford’s Premier Speedway, Jock Goodyer has clinched victory at Max’s Race for the second time on December 14, 2023. The 24-year-old sprintcar star narrowly dodged disaster in the closing laps, securing his place at the top of the podium.

Goodyer, who started from pole position, faced a fierce challenge from Brock Hallett, the reigning champion of the 2023 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic. Just as the race intensified, Goodyer experienced a moment of panic, stating, “I thought I nearly lost it there at the end.” His quick reflexes allowed him to maneuver past lapped cars, maintaining just enough speed to fend off Hallett’s advance.

The podium was completed by James McFadden, the current Classic and Australian champion, who impressively surged from 10th place to secure third. This event marks Goodyer’s second win at Max’s Race, a prestigious event first held in 2015 to honor sprintcar legend Max Dumesny.

Goodyer expressed pride in his accomplishment, saying, “We won this a few years back so obviously it’s a pretty prestigious race. The Dumesny family in this sport are pretty high up there with their accomplishments.” His victory solidifies his status as a leading figure in Australian sprintcar racing.

As the 2023 Australian sprintcar champion, Goodyer is on a winning streak, having already claimed victories this season at Gladstone Speedway in Queensland. He highlighted the challenges of adapting to his car, noting, “It’s just so hard with these things, so hit and miss.”

Fans and fellow competitors are eager to see how Goodyer continues to evolve this season. With a strong start and a demonstrated ability to perform under pressure, he is poised for further success on the track.

Stay tuned for more updates as Goodyer and his rivals gear up for upcoming races, where the competition is expected to be just as fierce.
