justin-abrams-joins-sharks-as-new-coach-for-2026-season

BREAKING NEWS: Point Cook Centrals have officially announced the appointment of Justin Abrams as their new head coach for the upcoming 2026 Western Football League Division 1 season. This significant development comes after the club’s previous coach, Dean Chambers, confirmed he would not return for the next season, prompting an early coaching search.

The Sharks made the announcement via social media, highlighting Abrams’ extensive experience and unwavering passion for football. “Justin joins us with an extraordinary depth of experience, proven leadership, and an unwavering passion for the game,” the club stated. They emphasized his coaching philosophy, which focuses on continuous growth, unlocking player potential, and fostering a winning culture built on hard work and discipline.

Currently, Abrams serves as the general manager of business operations at the Werribee Football Club in the VFL. His coaching journey encompasses various leagues, including the VFL, the AFL Talent League, and local competitions in Bendigo, Ballarat, and Central Highlands. His track record of building competitive teams has instilled excitement within the Sharks organization for the future.

As the Sharks look ahead, they are committed to providing opportunities for their younger players. The club currently sits in 12th place heading into their final match of the season, but with no relegation this year following the addition of three new teams, the focus remains on development.

In a challenging match on Saturday, the Sharks suffered a heavy defeat against the Caroline Springs Lakers, losing 26.13 (169) to 3.6 (24). The Lakers dominated from the start, leading 41-7 by the end of the first quarter. Despite the loss, players Luke Henderson, Josh Gerolemou, and Nathan Williams were recognized for their standout performances.

The Sharks will conclude their season against the finals-bound Yarraville Seddon Eagles this Saturday. As the team prepares for this final showdown, all eyes will be on Abrams as he lays the groundwork for a new era in Point Cook.

Stay tuned for further updates as the Sharks gear up for the 2026 season, aiming for a future filled with determination, unity, and success under their new leadership.
