BREAKING: The Keilor Sports Club has just unveiled its newly renovated clubrooms, marking a significant milestone for the community. The official opening took place on October 24, 2024, with key attendees including Deputy Premier Ben Carroll and Brimbank Mayor Thuy Dang. This much-anticipated event demonstrates the club’s commitment to enhancing community engagement and activity.
The renovations, which began in October 2024 and took just nine months to complete, are already showing positive results. Club President Hayden Kelly reported a remarkable increase in usage since the reopening in July 2025. “The place is being used a lot more than it used to be, that’s for sure,” Kelly stated. He emphasized that membership in life activities has surged by 10 to 15 percent, and attendance at club functions for both the football and cricket teams is significantly up.
This project, which comes at an estimated cost of $2.6 million, was made possible through a collaboration between the club, the Brimbank Council, Melbourne Airport, and the state government, alongside substantial community support. According to Kelly, community contributions, including goods and labor, have reduced the financial burden, with around $800,000 to $900,000 donated in materials and services.
Mayor Thuy Dang expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This is a testament to what can be achieved when we all work together. The new clubrooms will not only foster sports but will also serve as a hub for community events.”
As the Keilor Sports Club opens its doors to enhanced facilities, both internal and external groups are eager to utilize the new space. Kelly noted, “We’re already seeing more external groups wanting to use it. In a way, it’ll pay for itself in a number of years.”
