UPDATE: Children from Growing Cherubs Family Home Daycare in Kingsley are spreading joy and raising funds for Telethon 2025 through a delightful bake sale. The laughter of daycare kids echoed through Barridale Lodge as they collaborated with elderly residents to create mouthwatering cupcakes, all in the spirit of supporting sick and vulnerable children in Western Australia.

The special event, taking place on July 26, 2025, marks a significant moment for both the children and the seniors. Rory Fryters, CEO of Elderbloom Community Care Centres, emphasized the importance of this intergenerational playgroup. “This weekly visit fosters meaningful connections between our residents and the children, creating a vibrant community,” he stated.

As flour, sprinkles, and frosting filled the air, the kids and seniors crafted cupcakes with enthusiasm, with every sweet treat destined for the Telethon bake sale. Frances Svilicich, the daycare owner, noted the significance of Telethon, saying, “The kids wanted to do something special for the children. We’ve never fundraised before, but I think it’ll become an annual event.”

Seven-year-old Sienna Edwards expressed her joy in helping others, stating, “I want to help other kids so they can go home to their families.” Meanwhile, Barridale Lodge resident Brian Cox shared his fond memories of Telethon, saying, “I’ve been watching it since it started — it’s great. We are glad to involve the kids in fundraising like this.”

There’s still time for others to join the cause! Interested participants can host their own bake sales or morning teas before July 30. For registration, visit the official website.
