URGENT UPDATE: A significant accident has led to the closure of a 57-kilometre stretch of the Castlereagh Highway in both directions, just north of Lithgow. The crash occurred around 5:15 PM on December 21, 2023, at the intersection of Castlereagh Highway and Bandamora Street in Capertee.

Heavy vehicles over 19 metres must take the Great Western Highway, Mitchell Highway, and Goolma Road through Bathurst, Orange, Molong, and Wellington to travel between Wallerawang and Gulgong. These diversions are applicable in both directions.
