UPDATE: A 59-year-old man has been charged in Sydney after allegedly importing a “childlike sex doll” and possessing disturbing AI-generated child abuse material. Authorities made the announcement following a raid on September 8 at a property in Lalor Park, where multiple devices and children’s clothing were seized.
The investigation began when the Australian Border Force (ABF) identified a suspicious parcel from Asia at an international mail facility in Sydney back in August. Upon inspection, officials discovered the controversial doll, which was subsequently confiscated and referred to ABF Investigations NSW. In collaboration with the Australian Federal Police (AFP), officers executed a search warrant at the man’s residence, where they uncovered a significant amount of AI-generated child abuse material.
Following the discovery, the man was taken into custody at Blacktown police station and charged with one count of importing tier 2 goods, violating the Customs Act. He faces additional charges of possessing child abuse material using a carriage service and possessing child abuse material for use through a carriage service. If convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison. He has been refused bail and is set to appear before the Blacktown Local Court on Monday.
AFP Detective Superintendent Luke Needham emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to combat child exploitation, stating, “The message could not be clearer – if you engage in these horrific activities, you will be found, charged, and prosecuted.”
ABF Superintendent Shaun Baker added that officers utilize intelligence-led screening and risk-based targeting to intercept illicit goods entering Australia. “These vile dolls and this digital material have no place in Australian society,” he remarked. “The use of childlike sex dolls abhorrently normalizes child exploitation and is far from being a victimless crime.”
This case underscores the urgent need for vigilance against child exploitation in all forms as authorities continue to disrupt networks involved in such activities. The public is urged to remain aware and report any suspicious activity related to child exploitation.
As investigations continue, the community watches closely for further developments in this shocking case, highlighting the ongoing battle against child abuse and exploitation worldwide.
