UPDATE: The Mansfield Steiner School community is celebrating a significant milestone as all Year 12 students from the 2025 graduating class have successfully achieved their International Baccalaureate (IB) Diplomas. Each student has received an ATAR conversion of over 70, marking a remarkable achievement in their academic journey.
This momentous occasion comes as these students prepare to embark on new adventures, equipped with well-rounded skills and an understanding of their local lives’ intersection with global perspectives. The school’s commitment to holistic education has fostered a generation ready to tackle the complexities of the modern world.
Among the standout projects, Willow Mathews explored the historical implications of World War Two in her extended research essay, examining the responsibility for the tides turning on the Eastern Front. Meanwhile, Molly Diepeveen delved into the evolution of young adult dystopian fiction in the post-pandemic era through the lens of Australian author Karen Comer’s work, Grace Notes.
Oscar Johnston showcased his creative talents with an art exhibition titled Welcome to Pulpa, envisioning a hypothetical nation. His multi-medium construction invites contemplation on societal structures and artistic expression.
In a reflective moment, Ella Crathern emphasized the value of crafting her own thesis statements and engaging critically with contemporary culture. Her anthropology investigation into young women’s perceptions of makeup not only influenced her artwork but also prompted broader discussions on societal implications.
The Year 12 students engaged in deep philosophical inquiries during their Theory of Knowledge classes, tackling questions such as: “How do we know claims about re-creating the dire wolf are legitimate?” and “How important is it that someone teaching you a backflip has done a backflip themselves?” These discussions underscored the students’ ability to connect diverse disciplines and address ethical dilemmas surrounding historical investigations.
“The twists and turns you all took in your imagining and reasoning brought you to many good answers and many persistent mysteries,” said a school representative, highlighting the depth of inquiry and learning achieved by the graduates.
As Mansfield Steiner School proudly acknowledges its most recent IB graduates, the community looks forward to witnessing the lasting impact these students will have on their respective fields and the world at large. Congratulations to the 2025 Year 12 students for their hard work and dedication!
WHAT’S NEXT: As these graduates step into their futures, the community remains committed to supporting their ongoing learning and growth, ensuring that the spirit of inquiry and creativity continues to thrive.
