UPDATE: As the final round approaches, Min Woo Lee remains a strong contender in the PGA Tour‘s Baycurrent Classic in Yokohama, Japan, just four shots behind the leaders. Lee, who dazzled with a six-under 65 performance on Friday, followed up with a four-under 67 on Saturday, bringing his total to eight under for the tournament.

The Australian golfer’s impressive Saturday featured seven birdies, including three consecutive to close his round, but was tempered by three bogeys. He now trails American co-leaders Max Greyserman and Xander Schauffele, both at 12-under 201. Greyserman managed an even-par 71 in challenging conditions, while Schauffele matched Lee’s four-under 67.

This tournament is particularly significant for Schauffele, whose mother grew up in Japan. “Winning would be special obviously, my grandparents here, my mum growing up here with her brother as well,” he stated. His impressive resume includes two major championships and a gold medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, making a potential victory here even more meaningful.

Greyserman, who has led or shared the lead since the first round, expressed the difficulty in maintaining his position amid tough weather. “I would have liked to push my lead further, but you’re not going to play great for 72 straight holes,” he said.

As the final round nears, five players sit just three strokes behind the leaders: defending champion Nico Echavarria (69), Michael Thorbjornsen (66), Byeong Hun An (66), Garrick Higgo (68), and Si Woo Kim (69).

Among other Australians in the field, veteran Adam Scott is at three under after a 70 on Saturday, while Karl Vilips stands at two over after a 72.

With the final round scheduled for Sunday, all eyes will be on Lee as he attempts to close the gap and secure a victory in Yokohama. The stakes are high, and the excitement is palpable as the tournament reaches its climax.
