UPDATE: Local cricket enthusiasts in Keilor Park can rejoice as a brand-new, state-of-the-art cricket training facility has officially opened, enhancing community sporting opportunities. The $335,000 upgrade, funded by Brimbank Council, transforms the previous cricket nets into a fully enclosed, carpeted, three-lane training center that adheres to Cricket Australia facility guidelines.

This cutting-edge facility is now open to the entire community, bringing a significant boost to local players, especially those at the Keilor Park Cricket Club (KPCC). Club president David Tardio expressed excitement over the upgrade, stating, “Reactions from current and past members have been really positive. It was really nice for faces old and new to the club to see the nets.”

The new facility features dedicated spaces for bowler run-ups, enhancing safety for players. Tardio noted the upgrade is particularly thrilling after two decades of using the old nets, saying, “To see that [upgrade] was very exciting.”

Brimbank Mayor Thuy Dang emphasized the importance of such facilities, stating, “Council is thrilled to install the Keilor Park cricket nets for community use. Community sporting facilities like these ensure that everyone in Brimbank has the opportunity to get out and play sport.” She added that participating in sports promotes physical and mental well-being and fosters a sense of belonging among team members.

The new cricket nets can be accessed via Stadium Drive, making them easily reachable for all aspiring cricketers in the area. This upgrade marks a significant milestone for local sports and is poised to inspire a new generation of cricket players.

With the launch of this facility, Keilor Park is set to become a hub for cricket training, fostering community engagement and sporting excellence. Don’t miss out—head down to see the new nets and join the excitement today!
