UPDATE: A tragic accident in Tasmania has claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl from Newcastle, sparking grief in her family and community. The incident occurred on Saturday, January 3, when the all-terrain vehicle (ATV) she was traveling in collided with a ute on a highway in the town of Rosebery.

Emergency services responded quickly, but both the teenager and a 38-year-old Rosebery man, who was also on the ATV, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that the first responders were out-of-state tourists who attempted to assist before emergency personnel arrived.
