BREAKING: A driver for the NSW government has been charged with high-range drink driving after a dangerous driving report led police to his vehicle on the Far South Coast. The incident unfolded at approximately 3:50 PM on December 2, 2023, when officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were alerted to reckless driving in the Bemboka area, located around 35 kilometers west of Bega.

Following the report, police quickly organized a search and located the suspect’s Toyota Prado parked on the Snowy Mountains Highway. Upon conducting a roadside breath test, authorities confirmed the driver, a 55-year-old man, tested positive for alcohol. His breath analysis registered an alarming 0.183 blood alcohol concentration (BAC), significantly exceeding the legal limit.

The man was promptly arrested and taken to the Bega Police Station, where he was charged with driving with a high-range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol (PCA). His driver’s license was suspended immediately. He has been issued a court attendance notice and is scheduled to appear before Bega Local Court on December 23, 2023.

This incident raises serious concerns about road safety and the implications of drink driving, especially among government employees entrusted with public safety. The NSW Police continue to emphasize the importance of responsible driving to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all road users.

As this story develops, further updates will be provided. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in maintaining safe driving conditions in the region.
