The dramatic incident unfolded as medic Stewart Uzzell and his partner were preparing to leave a parking lot when they heard a distressing noise.
Upon investigating, they spotted the raccoon frantically running down the side of the road with the can firmly lodged on its head. Immediate action was essential as the creature struggled to free itself. Although Uzzell and his partner managed to catch the raccoon, they quickly realized that simply pulling the can off was not an option.
In a race against time, the paramedics utilized specialized shears and a ring cutter from their ambulance to carefully cut through the can. Witnessing the rescue, Uzzell expressed his concern, stating,
“I saw this little raccoon running down the side of the road with his head stuck in the can, and we thought, ‘Oh, no. We’ve got to help this thing.'”
After a tense few moments, the paramedics successfully freed the raccoon, who promptly scampered away into the nearby brush. In a light-hearted twist, the team named the raccoon “Campbell,” in homage to the Campbell’s Chunky Soup can that had caused the trouble.
