UPDATE: Penrith Beach is set to open EARLIER than expected, welcoming visitors tomorrow, December 6, 2025, at 9 AM with an exciting offer of 300 free ice creams and beverages for the first arrivals. As temperatures are predicted to soar to a scorching 41 degrees Celsius, this community-driven event promises a refreshing escape for locals.
The festivities will kick off at 9 AM and continue until 2 PM, featuring DJ entertainment, an ice cream truck, and a coffee van to keep guests cool and energized. Blue Mountains MP Trish Doyle expressed her delight, stating, “I’m so happy that, particularly our Lower Mountains residents will get the chance to cool off at Pondi a day early.”
Penrith Beach’s opening comes just in time for the peak of the 2025-26 summer season and will operate with extended hours from 7 AM to 7 PM daily, including public holidays, until April 2026. Since its inception in December 2023, the beach has attracted over 330,000 visitors and is equipped with essential amenities such as shaded seating, outdoor showers, and accessible pathways.
Daily lifeguard services from Surf Life Saving NSW will ensure safety while professional skin cancer checks will be available through the Skin Check Champions using their iconic ‘Silver Bullet’ mobile clinic. NSW Planning and Public Spaces Minister Paul Scully emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Opening Penrith Beach early, extending hours, and delivering real water safety programs is exactly what fairness looks like for a community that copes with some of the hottest temperatures on the planet.”
As anticipation builds for tomorrow’s grand opening, visitors are encouraged to arrive early to secure their free ice cream and enjoy a day of fun and relaxation at Penrith Beach. Don’t miss this chance to embrace summer with your community!
