Peter Moyes Anglican Community School students celebrate their world record for wearing party hats.
BREAKING NEWS: A remarkable achievement has just been confirmed as Peter Moyes Anglican Community School in Mindarie, Perth, sets a new world record for the largest gathering of people wearing party hats. In a vibrant display of joy and community spirit, 1,381 students and staff donned their festive headgear, surpassing the previous record of 1,161 held by a school in the UK.
“This event marks a joyful celebration of 25 years of learning, growth, and community at our school,” said Principal Benjamin Lomas. “What better way to mark our anniversary than by bringing everyone together for a world record attempt – with party hats and plenty of color. We’re making history – and having a lot of fun doing it.”
The record-breaking attempt took place on the school oval, where students and staff united in a sea of colorful party hats. Oversight for the event was provided by adjudicators from St Gregory’s Anglican Church and students from Mindarie Senior College, ensuring the record’s legitimacy.
Now, the school will submit detailed evidence, including drone footage, to Guinness World Records for official confirmation of their achievement. The day also featured a special moment as the school unveiled its time capsule, first sealed in 2000, with attendance from former principal Allan Shaw who traveled from Victoria to join the celebration.
Opened in 2000 with just 246 students from kindergarten to Year 8, Peter Moyes Anglican Community School has since expanded dramatically, now serving over 1,600 students from pre-kindergarten to Year 12.
This exciting milestone not only celebrates the school’s history but also emphasizes the importance of community and togetherness. The enthusiasm and support from students, staff, and families were palpable, making this event one for the history books.
Stay tuned for updates on the official confirmation from Guinness World Records as this remarkable achievement is validated. It’s a thrilling moment for Peter Moyes Anglican Community School and the entire Mindarie community!
