Rural Aid’s 2024 Spirit of the Bush Photo finalists.
URGENT UPDATE: Pilbara photographers have a unique opportunity to capture the essence of rural life in the 2025 Spirit of the Bush photo competition, running from July 14 to August 31, 2025. This national contest, organized by Rural Aid, seeks striking images that showcase the resilience and beauty of life on the land, especially vital following another challenging year marked by floods, fires, and drought.
“Every year, we are humbled by the entries we receive. Each photo is a tribute to the unwavering spirit of our farming families and communities,” said Rural Aid CEO John Warlters. He emphasized that the competition serves as a reminder of the grit that keeps rural Australia thriving, even in tough times.
The competition is set to announce 10 winning images on September 15, 2025, with each selected photographer receiving a $250 prepaid Visa card. This is not just a chance to win; it’s an opportunity to connect Australians with the heart of the bush. “Whether it’s a hardworking farmer, a storm rolling across a paddock, or a quiet moment at sunset, every image has the power to resonate,” Mr. Warlters added.
Entrants are invited to submit high-resolution landscape photographs that encapsulate the true Spirit of the Bush. Last year, local photographers Tamara Ward and Debbie Cristinelli were celebrated as winners, their work featured in Rural Aid’s 2025 Spirit of the Bush calendar.
To enter, participants can post their photos on Instagram or Facebook, tagging @ruralaid and using the hashtag #SOTB2025. Detailed entry guidelines and competition terms are available at https://www.ruralaid.org.au/spirit-of-the-bush/.
This competition is more than just a showcase of talent; it’s a vital platform for rural voices to be heard and appreciated. Photographers are encouraged to share their unique perspectives and highlight the beauty and resilience of their communities. Don’t miss this chance to shine a light on the bush and celebrate the spirit that unites rural Australia. Get your entries in before August 31!
