UPDATE: A provisional driver has sold his vehicle just hours after being arrested for mid-range drink-driving in Orange. Adrian John James Fernando, 25, was caught with a blood alcohol level of 0.133 on September 27, 2025, at approximately 10:40 PM.

According to official police reports, officers were conducting a routine patrol on Lone Pine Avenue when they observed Fernando’s vehicle make an illegal turn from South Terrace. Police followed the vehicle as it crossed over Bathurst Road before activating lights and sirens, prompting Fernando to pull over for a random alcohol test.

After returning a positive indication for alcohol, Fernando was arrested and taken to the Orange Police Station. In a court appearance on October 23, 2025, he was informed by Magistrate Gary Wilson that this incident was classified as a second offence, as he had a past drink-driving charge within the last five years.

Fernando revealed during proceedings that he had sold the vehicle involved in the incident but indicated he had access to another car where an interlock device could be fitted. The court responded decisively, convicting him and imposing a fine of $500, along with a six-month disqualification from driving. Additionally, he was ordered to have an interlock device installed for a period of 24 months.

This arrest highlights the ongoing issues surrounding drink-driving and road safety in the region. As authorities ramp up enforcement efforts, drivers are reminded of the serious legal consequences of impaired driving.

Next Steps: Fernando will need to comply with the court’s order for an interlock device. Observers are urged to stay informed about local traffic laws and the implications of drink-driving to safeguard their community.
