He recounted the actions of Daniel Keighran, a US Army helicopter crew member who, despite the chaos of hostile gunfire, risked his life to assist in the evacuation of his compatriot. “With complete disregard for his own safety, Dan exposed himself repeatedly to draw fire away from the helicopter,” Captain Moore explained. His bravery earned him the prestigious Victoria Cross.
