URGENT UPDATE: The Riverland Rose and Garden Festival has officially launched, filling the region with vibrant blooms and community spirit as of last weekend. The celebrations kicked off in Renmark with key events and a strong turnout, promising an exciting week ahead until the festival concludes on October 19, 2025.
The festival commenced with a lively Market Fair attended by notable figures, including Berri Barmera Mayor Ella Winnall and Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland chair Jodie Hawkes. The event showcased the dedication of local volunteers and businesses, emphasizing the festival’s essence beyond just beautiful roses.
Festival Committee President Michelle Dominic declared the opening day “fantastic” and “overwhelmingly positive,” highlighting the great weather and community support. “So many positive comments have been received,” said Dominic, noting that the open gardens across the region drew significant crowds.
One of the standout events was the fundraiser by the Riverland Friends of the Women and Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, which attracted over 120 attendees for an afternoon tea and a fashion show featuring Loxton’s Country Proud Clothing. The Gala Dinner also saw success, with 140 tickets sold, creating a memorable evening filled with decorations, music, and delicious food at the Renmark Function Centre.
The Renmark Institute floral display was another highlight, themed “New Beginnings,” showcasing the hard work of many volunteers. The community’s response was overwhelmingly positive, further solidifying the festival’s reputation as a regional highlight.
Attending the Market Fair was Nicola Centofanti, a Riverland-based MLC and opposition spokesperson for regional South Australia. She emphasized, “The festival is not just about stunning roses and beautiful gardens, but about the people who make it happen year after year.” Centofanti praised the event for fostering community connections and supporting local businesses.
As the festival continues, Michelle Dominic encourages both locals and visitors to participate in the remaining events and open gardens. “This festival fosters connection and celebration, reminding us of the power of community,” she stated, reflecting on recent challenges faced by the region, including dry seasons and the impacts of floods.
