URGENT UPDATE: A second 13-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a brutal stabbing at a motel in Moree, New South Wales, that left a 52-year-old man hospitalized. The incident, which occurred early on 14 September, has prompted significant police action and a developing investigation.

Emergency services were called to the motel on Alice Street shortly before 1 AM after reports surfaced of a stabbing. Authorities report that a group of five individuals allegedly forced their way into a room, confronting the man. A struggle ensued, during which the victim was stabbed in the torso and arm.

Upon arrival, police found the injured man, who received immediate medical attention from paramedics before being transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Four members of the group fled the scene before officers from the New England police district arrived.

Following the incident, police arrested the first 13-year-old boy at the scene, who has since been charged and is currently before the courts.

In a swift response, detectives from the New England police district, supported by Western Region specialist officers, established Strike Force Jamesport to investigate the incident further. Their inquiries led to the arrest of a second 13-year-old boy at a home in Hillvue around 10:50 AM on 16 September. He was taken to Tamworth police station and charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit a serious indictable offence, as well as face blackened/disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The second teenager has been refused bail and appeared before a children’s court the same day, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear on 20 November.

Authorities emphasize that investigations under Strike Force Jamesport are ongoing, and further updates are expected as they continue to gather evidence. This incident has raised concerns in the community, highlighting the urgent need for discussions surrounding youth violence and public safety.
