Steve Banks and his renowned band, The Sidemen, are set to perform at the Byron Theatre on January 16. This highly anticipated summer show promises an engaging evening of music featuring a mix of established talent and fresh faces.
The lineup for this performance is dynamic, as band members vary depending on their availability. While two founding members are currently on separate world tours, Banks has enlisted Alex McLeod on guitar for this show. He joins regular Sidemen Mike Mills and Grant Gerathy, both of whom are part of the local power trio, The Sea Benz. The trio brings a wealth of experience, with Mills having played bass for Alex Lloyd and Gerathy having toured extensively with The John Butler Trio.
Adding to the musical richness are two of Banks’ favorite vocalists, Amie Stuart and Chloe West, who will provide seamless backup and lead vocals. The band’s lineup also features Brendan St Ledger on keyboards and Jeff Burstin, an esteemed guitarist and musical director known for his work with Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons and The Black Sorrows. Burstin is a familiar face in the Melbourne music scene, regularly performing and recording with The Hornets.
In a signature move, Banks will spotlight each musician by showcasing tunes they have written, helped to make famous, or are inspired by—the ones they wish they had penned themselves. The performance will feature a seven-piece band, with Banks at the helm, guiding the audience through an entertaining set and interspersing a few of his own original songs.
The one-night-only concert begins at 19:30, and tickets are available at byroncentre.com.au. Fans can look forward to an energetic and memorable evening, blending the talents of seasoned musicians with the vibrancy of new collaborations.
