BREAKING: The Sunbury Netball Association has just announced it is a finalist in three categories for the highly anticipated 2025 Netball Victoria Volunteer Awards. Coach May Crotty is nominated for Coach of the Year, while Melissa Lofts is in the running for Community Volunteer of the Year. Additionally, the association’s Net Set Go program has been recognized as a finalist for Net Set Go Centre of the Year.

This recognition comes as a monumental achievement for the club, which is entirely run by dedicated volunteers. Crotty has been a stalwart representative coach since 2018, tirelessly dedicating her time and passion to foster the growth of young athletes both on and off the court. Her unwavering commitment has made her an inspiring figure within the association.

Lofts has also been acknowledged for her relentless efforts in ensuring the Sunbury Netball Association flourishes. Her contributions exemplify the spirit of community engagement and support that defines the club.

The Net Set Go program, which takes place every Saturday morning at Eric Boardman Stadium, has experienced impressive growth, doubling in size over the past year. This surge in participation highlights the hard work and dedication of the association’s volunteer coaches and organizers who provide a fun, inclusive, and welcoming introduction to netball for the youngest players.

Vice President Amanda Azzopardi stated, “Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Sunbury Netball Association. They give their time because they love the kids, the game, and our community. To see May, Melissa, and our Net Set Go program recognized at this level is a fantastic achievement.”

The winners of the Netball Victoria Community Awards will be announced on October 19. In the meantime, registrations for the upcoming term of the Net Set Go program are now open, with sessions running every Saturday at 9 AM at Eric Boardman Stadium.
