UPDATE: Tacodeli, Austin’s beloved taco chain, is set to rapidly expand its footprint in both Austin and Houston over the coming months. The company has confirmed plans for multiple new locations, including two in the Austin metro area and one in Houston, aiming for 40 total locations by 2029.
The first two Austin locations are currently vacant dirt lots. One will be situated in Tech Ridge at 12705 Center Lake Drive, while the other is planned for Leander at 408 E. San Gabriel Parkway. In Houston, the new store will be located at 19302 Katy Freeway. Specific timelines for construction and completion are still pending, but the urgency for these expansions is clear.
“This growth allows us to go further than we thought we would in Austin — the city is expanding,” said Roberto Espinosa, co-owner and founder of Tacodeli. The company is not stopping at just these locations; according to CEO Peter Gaudreau, Tacodeli is eyeing additional expansions in Kyle, Dripping Springs, Georgetown, and Round Rock, along with further growth south toward San Antonio.
The strategy behind this aggressive expansion focuses on selecting ideal sites that offer synergy with other businesses. Future Tacodeli restaurants will ideally feature patios and be located near grocery giants like H-E-B and Whole Foods Market, as well as fitness centers, coffee shops, and juice bars. “We have a very good synergistic relationship with JuiceLand. We’re next door to them in many local shops,” Espinosa noted.
Moreover, Tacodeli has initiated a pilot program with H-E-B, where they are serving their tacos in the mornings at eight different locations. The collaboration emphasizes the brand’s commitment to integrating within the community and providing convenient options for customers.
